ALERTS: Asana Bugs & Problems (urgent)
Kickstart Weekly Emergency Launch
URGENT: Why I'm releasing this newsletter without a proper launch and fanfare -- to help you with the sudden Asana changes...
BACKGROUND
🚨 Asana Alerts and Updates: When Asana releases high-impact changes (like they did this week when they took away a crucial reporting feature that most of my clients use), I often get flooded with help requests from all previous and current clients. I LOVE helping you. And, Asana Kickstarters -- since our Project Kickstart community has grown so much (and there's still only one Bryan), I'm rolling out three group support tools so that I can help everyone to continue thriving.
THREE NEW METHODS OF ASANA SUPPORT
⚡ (1) KICKSTART WEEKLY NEWSBITES: Subscribe to this free weekly newsbite for an extremely brief, ⏱1-minute executive summary of the essential Asana updates from the week.
💬 (2) ASANA ALERTS TEXTS: Text my "Asana Alerts" update number for alerts on the most urgent issues and, optionally, notices about monthly trainings and workshops. Text me here: 619-566-7724 to subscribe and then choose your preferred alerts.
👩💼👨💼 (3) VIP GROUP: Most excitingly: In January, we are launching our Kickstart VIP Roundtable for an amazing, highly searchable, project management and team productivity support group. We'll share more in the coming weeks.
SO, TO WRAP UP...
So, Asana Kickstarters... I wish we were launching this exciting new publication under different circumstances, but Asana's sudden and challenging changes to task reports (which I'll explain further down) made it urgent for me to set up bulk methods for supporting you. My promise to you, the team leads, managers, and executives: these newsbites will always be short and important.
P.S. As you know, I use emojis a lot. It's to help you know what to expect and to navigate content quickly. So, mock me or join me -- eventually you'll appreciate them. EMOJI LEGEND: 🚨=Urgent or highly important ⚡=Fast or easy 💬=Message or conversation 👩💼👨💼=VIP or special treatment
So, Subscribe and let us filter the noise for you.
🚨 ALERT: Asana Unexpectedly Removes Overdue Tasks from Custom Reports, Breaking "Due Soon" Reports Without Warning
WHAT HAPPENED:
Based on limited user feedback, Asana removed the ability to see overdue tasks on "Due in the next X days" reports. For example, your "Due in the next 7 days" or "...14 days" reports now only show future tasks. Incomplete overdue tasks no longer show.
WHY IT MATTERS TO YOU:
More than 300 of you (and tens of thousands of user users) rely heavily on your "14-day Task Report" or your "X-days Task Report". Suddenly, you no longer see tasks that are very important, and even more important because they are overdue. There's no place to easily see a focused report anymore of what's due soon AND what's overdue (unless you change the report dates every time you look at it).
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT:
I'm gathering feedback from all of you and your use cases as quickly as possible. If this change is serious for you, like it has been for others, please email [email protected] with details of why this matters to your team. I'll be compiling your responses and reaching out to Asana with your feedback. My efforts are being documented on the Asana user forum here 👉 Custom reports with a "next X days" filter for due dates used to show overdue tasks as well (until last week). Please bring it back.
As a short term workaround, adjust your task reports with the criteria "Incomplete" and "Between July 1, 2020 and Dec 24th, 2020".
Hopefully, I'll have better news for you next Friday. For immediate updates, please subscribe to the alert texts (details in the intro post above) by texting ADD ME to 619-566-7724
